Henry McCoy began as an original member of the X-Men, though he may have looked a tiny bit different then than he does now. His current, blue fuzzy appearance is the result of an experiment he performed on himself! Silly Hank!
However, with that came superhuman strength, speed, dexterity, and endurance. From the start Beast has had the brains to match his brawn, Henry McCoy is one of the world's foremost experts in biochemistry.
Beneath the beastly appearance, however, lies a gentle, brillant man who is always quick with wit, glad to help a friend in need, and longing to learn all he can. Beast is at home both on the field as an X-Man, or in the mansion, lost in a good book.
