About Silver Sable

Silver Sable is an extraordinary hand to hand combatant and martial artist, an expert markswoman and swords woman, and accomplished gymnast, leader, and strategist. Silver is remarkably agile, and has exceptional strength, speed, durability, and reflexes. She is fluent in French, German, and several other languages. Silver Sable customarily wields a derringer, a katana, and several chais (weighted half-moon projectiles of her own design). She has access to a wide array of advanced technology and equipment. Her uniform is made of synthetic stretch fabric lined with Kevlar.

Shortly after Silver's birth, her father Ernst, to his wife Anastasia's concern, became commander of the Wild Pack, a military unit organized by his homeland of Symkaria to hunt Nazi war criminals. Ernst Sablinova reorganized and trained the Pack to peak efficiency. When Silver was seven, her mother was murdered by Ivan Trefkov, who became Ernst's nemesis.

Ernst trained Silver in virtually every form of armed and unarmed combat, hoping to make his daughter hard and strong enough to face the task of eventually leading the Wild Pack. When Trefkov appeared to kill her father, Silver vowed vengeance and assumed her father's role as leader of the Wild Pack - and excelled at it. Devoted wholeheartedly to the Pack's mission, Silver cut herself off from human sentiment.

As war criminals dwindled in number, Silver (now known as Silver Sable) converted the Wild Pack into a mercenary operation to supplement Symkaria's income, creating Silver Sable International to manage it. In recent years, she has repeatedly encountered Spider-Man, whom she came to admire despite his "unprofessional" habit of performing heroic deeds for free. During one such encounter, she met several of Spider-Man's former enemies and hired them to work for her as the Outlaws. She soon inducted superhumans into the Wild Pack itself - most notably ex-criminal Sandman and former government operative Battle Star. Silver also created a third team of superhuman operatives - the Intruders.

Silver learned that her father was still alive, and being held in servitude to Ivan Trefkov, the very man she assumed had killed him. Ivan was killed during the mission to rescue Silver's father, and despite the vengeance she had gained, she found it to be empty, and briefly considered abandoning her mercenary activities, but instead, rededicated herself to her work with the Wild Pack.

There was a Silver Sable series which began in 1992 and ran for 35 issues, ending in 1995 (click here for more info on the series).

The newest Silver Sable series (Sable and Fortune) shows us a Silver Sable who has grown tired of the corruption and laziness in her Wild Pack operatives. Disbanding the Pack, Sable set out to find the source of the problem, along the way she meets up with a man calling himself Dominic Fortune. Adventure ensues.
